This Sunday we will thank God for the gift of music and for musicians and choir members who have returned to their places in the chancel. No less than a Sunday School lesson, the hymns we sing are meant to raise the theological IQ of everyone in worship. They fill us with theological truth, as John and Charles Wesley intended when they wrote and com-piled the first Methodist collections of hymns published in 18th century England. The best hymns, they believed, teach us about the God we love while also filling us with a deeper desire to love God even more. Sudbury UMC’s singers and instrumentalists lead us on this formative journey. We welcome them back to the chancel with gratitude.
