Our Covenant Groups offer adults opportunities for both faith and fellowship. Bible Studies, Book Groups and other special programs help faith continue to grow for all ages.

There are special multi-generational opportunities during the weeks of Advent and Lent when we offer our special Soup Supper series.  Fellowship, worship and education for all.

Adult Learning Opportunities

New adult learning opportunities are always available.  In the fall of 2016, Jim Empfield and John McKinney led a Disciples course, Introduction to Romans.  In January and February 2017, Pastor Joel has led a Book Study.  We’re rounding out this church year with a new course led by Jim and John focusing on Opening Ourselves to God’s Grace.  Do you want to get involved?  Do you have questions? Contact Jackie Roder.

Fall 2016 Speaker Series

In the fall of 2016, Sudbury UMC offered an exciting new speaker series focusing on Faith and the Bible. Thought-provoking presentations were led by scientists who shared how they balance their faith in the face of today’s constantly developing science.  How do God and Science coexist?

Thursday Morning Bible Study

The Bible Study group meets at 10 o’clock each Thursday morning at Panera Bread in Wayland (400 Post Road, Wayland). The group typically reads and discusses the weekly scripture readings and Bible passages. All are welcome.

Magic Years

This is a group of people age 55 and above who meet monthly for lunch and a program. The Minister of Visitation is a mentor to this group, but lay people plan the programs with feedback from the group and help with the lunch. Activities include speakers, short videos, singing, sharing of travel, etc.

Men’s Breakfast

Once a month, before church during the school year, men gather for a men’s breakfast. There may be a program led by a church member or an outside speaker on a special topic. The range of topics is broad, from church to travel, to books, to world events.

Women’s Fellowship

Once a month, during the school year, SUMC women gather for fellowship, fun and service.  Not necessarily all at the same time.  Museum trips, the annual “Not-So-Silent Auction”, the preparation of the Sanctuary for Easter are among the activities.  New ideas are welcome, as are new members!
