Two Former Pastors return to SUMC on March 15th.
Reverend Dick Harding will be taking part in the worship service on March 15 when Rev. Gil Caldwell will be with us. Rev. Harding is a close friend of Gil Caldwell and was instrumental in bringing him to our church. Rev. Harding has also been a strong advocate for equal rights for ALL.
Reverend David Purdy and his wife Pam will be joining us for the worship service and talkback. David and Pam will be bringing their book: Icons of the Civil Rights Movement and it will be available for sale. Pam began creating gilded wooden frame icons in 2007 focusing first on individuals and then creating icons like the Freedom Rides and Bloody Sunday in Selma. Pam’s icons are being displayed in shows throughout New England and was recently featured in the New York Times newspaper.
To learn more about these icons, please take a look at Pam Purdy’s website.
